Things to Consider While Doing Sadhana
Sadhana is a sacred practice that deserves intentionality and presence. To make the most of your spiritual journey, consider the following essential guidelines:
Create a Sacred Space
Choose a clean, quiet, and comfortable spot for your Sadhana. This space should feel calm and energetically uplifting.
Prepare Your Body & Mind
Freshen up or take a shower before Sadhana. This cleanses not just the body but also refreshes the mind and invokes positivity.
Use a Proper Seat
Sit on a yoga mat, cushion, or a light-colored towel. Avoid sitting directly on the floor. If using a chair, place a cloth or mat under your feet to stay grounded.
Direction Matters
Morning: Face East
Evening: Face West
Optional: North
Avoid: South direction
Posture
Sit with your spine comfortably erect. A straight spine ensures proper energy flow.
Use of Mala (Rosary Beads)
You may use spiritual rosaries like Rudraksha, Spatik (crystal), Sandalwood, or Tulsi to assist in mantra chanting.
Mantra Discipline
Pronounce mantras correctly.
Understand their meaning and significance before starting.
Chant in a medium tone—not too loud or too soft.
Stay focused and avoid distractions.
Dietary Considerations
Try to follow a vegetarian diet during your Sadhana period to maintain purity in body and mind.
No Interruptions
Once you begin, complete your Sadhana without breaks to preserve the flow and reorganization of energies.
Post-Sadhana Silence
After completing the practice, sit in silence for at least 5 minutes to integrate the energy and remain centered before returning to daily activities.
